We are planning on going to Indy for pole day Saturday and spending the day. Possibly head to the silver crown race afterwards. I am wondering about parking at IMS and thought someone could help me out. We are planning on taking our 50ft motor home up. Will we be able to park in the infield or where will we need to go?

There are several parking lots along Georgetown Road and West 20th Street that have facilities for RV's. There are probably many others, but this is the area of the track I am most familiar with.

About 5 or 6 years ago I took a 27 footer into the infield on pole day. They took my $10.00 and let me in the gate, but all of a sudden the yellow shirts came and told me to get that thing out of here. They got really indignant with me. So I turned the thing around and left. They didn't want to refund the 10 bucks either. Really bad experience.

So possibly the coke lot area will be our best bet? How early should we arrive and can we go in and out of the speedway?

I would try to arrive an hour or two before actual qualifying. You shouldn't have traffic problems if you do that. Pass outs are not issued, so when you are in, you are in.

We used to always park the rv at the coke plant at the s/e side the nught before pole day..It has been 4 or 5 years since but you should have no problem finding a place to park there..It is really close to the turn 4 entrance also...
