1 car one lap, Vs Group qualifying. Almost Heaven, Only two laps could be better

How about a four lap average?

I like the two-lap qualifying because it is fun to watch how different drivers change (or not) their lines between the two laps. And, more importantly, it gives the announcer plenty of time to tell the fans about the driver. If you want to make new fans, this is very important.

I once read a quote by the late, great Smokey Yunick who said Silver Crown Championship Cars are the last true racecar in America. Line 'em up and race 100 miles and see whose the fastest without pit stops or adjustments being a factor. I tend to agree with Smokey, but the 51/49 concept helped make a couple of the dirt mile Silver Crown races pretty exciting during it's short implementation.

I have mixed feelings on the double file restarts. I like the idea of bunching up the field a bit but I worry somewhat about the safety factor. I know, I know, nobody forces the guys to race these things.

Individual qualifying should be part of a Silver Crown race agenda. Period. One lap is better than group.

LONG LIVE THE SILVER CROWN DIVISION. I love these cars as much as the 1 mile dirt tracks that they race on!

Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.

I love qualifying and always will. One man against the track. You find out real fast who the tough guy is.

I personally hate the redraw, especially on the miles. If it's a one groove race track as they can be sometimes, you are screwed for being quick time. You should be rewarded for going fast , not for sand bagging. As AJ Fike about it.

I like 2 lap qualifying better. If a guy bobbles on a lap, it doesn't totally kill his chances. Without the need to go for the pole because of the redraw, it might be a case of trying to turn a decent lap instead of pushing it. To me, qualifying is really a joy to watch on the miles, a major part of the show. I love the 100 straight laps. Anytime I can see the Silver Crown cars, life is good. Some people think their time has passed, but they are still one of the best proving grounds for any driver.

For those about to rock, we salute you.

A bad qualifying lap isn't a death sentence, they still have 100 laps to make up for any errors...

Plain and simple, if this race goes back to a follow the leader show, I'm done. This is the first year I am actually going to be able to go back to this race. The last 2 I was at were very boring after lap 10. Actually 2 of the most boring races I can ever remember. Those races were alot like the modern Nascar race. Cars all strung out around the track. I am going in open minded though. If this year is as bad as those 2, Gas City will get my money in 2013.

Not real crazy about the redraw. Very happy to see it back to a full 100
with no breaks at midpoint of race.
Best Regards,
John
