CAE in-out box?

I have a vintage CAE in-out box. I have been told to run dry, and i have been told to run[B] 1/2 full. When i run 1/2 full it leaks. I need advice please.

I used to run mine dry. Grease the u-joint and put some grease on the fork. I never had a failure.
