How crazy / unrealistic would it be to run a unsanctioned Champ Car race?

Depends on how much money you can afford to lose. It would be a gamble at best and in this economy most tracks aren't willing to add something new without some assurances of success.

Part of the problem is not many race tracks left that the Silver Crown cars haven't run on that could host this type of show. A few good tracks remain that could be successful but either the promoter isn't interested or doesn't feel comfortable trying it.

I still think the mile dirt tracks put on a good show. Not many of those left anymore. That means you are looking at 1/2 miles to fill the bill. Pavement is a tough sell for anything so that doesn't look good either. Just my opinion though.

Where would you like to see them run that they currently don't?

I have always thought the Burg would be perfect for a Silver Crown show
