PROMOTER KAZARIAN CHANGES FINALS OF BUDWEISER OVAL NATIONALS BACK TO ORIGINAL FORMAT!
(Perris, CA, November 4, 2011) Due to an outcry from fans, Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian has announced that tomorrow night's portion of the 16th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals is going back to what was originally planned with qualifying, heats, preliminary mains and the championship A main.
The saga started early this afternoon when the track was forced to postpone tonight's second round of the prestigious sprint car race due to rain. Tonight's round was moved to tomorrow afternoon followed by the Saturday night championship round. The makeup show in the daytime was not going to undergo a format change, but for the sake of time, Kazarian scrapped the new Saturday night format that included qualifying and heats. That decision drew the ire of hundreds of fans who voiced their disenchantment on the telephone, through text, the Perris Auto Speedway Facebook site and on Internet message boards.
"It is wrong that I initially scrapped that format," Kazarian said. "I would like to apologize to the fans for making that decision. As soon as I did, fans reacted and voiced their displeasure about the change. Because of that whelming response to modifying Saturdays format I decided to go with the original format that we advertised and promoted over the past few months. This is what the fans want and we are going to give it to them!"
The pit gate will open at 10:00 AM and the spectator gates will open at noon for the Friday makeup show. Racing will begin at 1:40. In addition to the regular program, the Saturday afternoon show will also include the running of the $10,000.00 to win "Legend's of Ascot Match Race" featuring Mike Spencer, Levi Jones, Nic Faas, Chris Windom and Kyle Larsen.
The Saturday night portion of the show now reverts back to the originally planned format that will include qualifying and heats as well as the main events. Spectator gates and the pit gate will open at 5:00 PM for the regularly scheduled Saturday show and the first race will be at 7:10.
