This post is full of false advertising. This isn't the Michael Lewis anyone on this board would be thinking of, when they read the words "american midget driver Michael Lewis"...
Talk about disapointing.

Maybe # 9 midgets ring a bell, Steve Lewis's son , pretty big name in the midget industry but I might be wrong.

The article says this Michael Lewis was born in 1990. He would have been only 10 or 12 years old when he started running with USAC. I think not. I recall that the Michael Lewis we know lived in Noblesville, IN, moving from California. He was successful in those orange Western Speed cars, especially on the West Coast. Pretty sure they are two different guys. Tell me if I'm wrong. |

How is it disappointing? Michael J's website shows plenty of proof of his seat time and success driving for the same Western Speed team's #40 Ford Focus midget. He's run the Turkey night several times including last years race. He's one of the view Americans with a shot at F-1. If that doesn't work out, I'm sure he will be more of a fixture in USAC and even some NASCAR. And yes, his dad is Steve Lewis, owner of Nine Racing and PRI, and everyone on this board knows of him. Both Michaels are talented, great guys and I've had the priviledge of sponsoring both of them in their careers with Bell Helmets. The older Michael in Indy hasn't raced in a few years and is married to Jennifer, raising a family and working for Tony Stewart Racing. Nothing wrong with that either. |

everyone calm down geez... When I opened it up I expected the article to be about the Michael Lewis from Noblesville, since I hadn't heard what hed been doing for a while. Im sure the other Michael Lewis is a super duper guy.

Sorry if this story didn't fit your picture of a USAC racer that you have known, but I thought it would be of interest to the group.
Maybe not the Michael Lewis you thought it was, but give him some credit for being a former 1/4 Midget and USAC Focus Midget driver who has gone on to do well in Europe. |

Impressive run for a circle track driver. Interesting thing is that in the old days all the circle track guys ran road races. It shows that oval tracks are a good training ground for all sorts of racing , when a driver is given a chance.
