Would anyone be interested in a "fun" race purely for the experience? I myself would love to get some more track time before the winter comes. I am pretty good friends with the people that run Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY. This is a clay 3/8th oval that stays pretty "racy" all night. They had an ASCT race there last year in the fall, so some folks on here have raced there. I was talking with them and they would be agreeable to allow some track time during one of their remaining nights of racing. I have 4 guys that want to race for the fun of it, and if we had more it would just make it a better show for the fans in the stands and more fun for the racers. This would be a NO purse fun only deal, and an opportunity to put sprint cars in front of folks that haven't hardly ever seen them. If this has any interest I will be glad to pursue it. It sounds like a great idea to me. I've been talking to promoters round here and next year I hope to get some nonwing minisprints together to have a race. Be nice to have a 2500.00 to win race if I could swing it. Theres quite a few $5000.00 to $8000.00 to win modified races round here. If I really put my mind to it you think I'd be able to do some promoting and come up with a few grand. The local track over the hill has four races that pay 4-8 g's this season. Problem is first I have to introduce them to nonwing minisprints. The other thing is they look at my car like it's a lit stick of dynomite, a typical reaction being, oh jeez these guys would kill themselves in one of them. I guess promoters around here feel that inless your car weighs 3400 lbs you need a wing to be safe. Man it's only a minisprint, yes it's a different race world here.

Its a good idea, but maybe you'd want to see if you could put in together on a night when the track isn't running. Maybe do it during the day?
It might be a bit of a stretch, but I don't think setting a precedent of running for free is wise...

this is not mentioned as a "race with a purse", but a way to go play and learn on a race condition race track for the price of a pit pass. Sure a purse would be nice but, I sure don't have an extra couple grand falling out of my butt, to sponsor it. Surely there are more than 4 guys around that just want to play with there cars and aren't worried about making a few hundred bucks.

Basically a "test and tune" night but with a checkered flag at the end

I love racing there, but can't afford to come down for free. Would love to see another Non-Wing Sprint Race there in 2012 and at Bardstown.

I would think the promoter would be willing to allow 4 or 5 free pit passes per sprint car if drivers are coming to put on a FREE SHOW for his spectators. Its a LONG drive for me to go down there, but to add on top of that paying $100 or more to get my team in........ just not feasible.

Plus free beer and dancing girls after the races.
