Left Rex at 4:45 on Thurs. He is still sedated, but is more alert. He would move his head and follow you with his eyes when you spoke. Only stayed a few minutes as he gets excited and it messes up the machine. He still has a very long road ahead, but continues to improve. The surgeon said he is healing fine. Thanks to everyone the concern everyone has had, has been wonderful. Thank you everyone.
Left Rex at 5:00 Friday. He is still on the vent, but was alert and able to answer questions by shaking his head. He is aware of where he is ,and why he is there. Nurse is hopeful he will be off the vent in the next couple of days. Thank you for your concern.
Left Rex at 1:30 Sat. He was very alert, though still on the vent. He was happy that Josh Spencer had came by and left him a new t shirt. Tom Chalk and his daughter Jamie were there when we got there. Jamie is a case worker at the hospital, and she has went above and beyond to help Rex. Rex also liked the card signed by all the drivers. Hopefully he will be off the vent soon, and we can get him healed up and back to the track. He still has a long way to go, but is doing much better. Thanks to all for your concern.
I don't know Rex or Brent but I do know that having REAL friends will help a person through their problems be they physical, emotional or whatever. Just from what I've read here it's obvious that Rex is blessed to have a friend like Brent. Get well Rex and I hope to meet you both someday on one of my all too infrequent trips to Indiana.

Thank you for the kind words, but my wife and I are just doing our part. Dave Cochran has been a huge help from the beginning of all this. Mike Harrington has done so much keeping up with his mail, mowing his yard, and who knows what else. Travis Branch has done too many things for Rex than I could count. All the people who have visited, or sent well wishes. Everyone deserves thanks. This has been a group effort.
The wife talked to the nurse Sun Morning, they are hpoeful to get him off the vent today. They asked not to visit until after 4 as they are weening him off. Will update when I get home from Kokomo.
