Duke if you were at the sprint races at ORP last year you maybe can understand. No one was in the stands. So they paid for the track rental, then the purse and neither the front or the back gate would have even covered the purse let alone the track rental. Should they be in the business of throwing money away? Do you want to make up the difference? If not then maybe try thinking before flapping yer jaws about it.

you are still going to have all the cars and stars run for less money, because the pavement races still count towards the national drivers championship(the 40 grand)

"Only" $2500? That's still the highest paying pavement series that I know of. As long as they pay decent start money and come up with a owner friendly tire rule, I don't see a problem.

Is there, in fact, a TV deal with this for all of the races or are people just assuming it because it's being called Thursday Night Thunder?
I do know the Kroger Speedfest race the end of July for midgets and Silver Crown does have TV coverage. Kevin Miller said at the press conference announcing the additiion of ARCA to the program that one consideration in agreeing to it was the television broadcast. Do the sprint races have TV?
I am very glad to see the pavement schedule as extensive as it is. Let there be more.

Will USAC get Hoosiers permission for a longer lasting tire, or will Hoosier do what they think is best. If you want a long running tire call American Racer. I saw a set go 500 laps at the Little 500 once, and win the show. After that they weren't invited back.
If you don't make a tire that lasts more then one night, it won't be worth it to run with the smaller purse. You'll have no chance of ever coming near break even for anyone. The small teams will need that to even think of running.
The one plus is Thursday night races. Some smaller teams from up north may be willing to trek down here. Once again, that will depend on the purse structure.

I'll be surprised if it's not the M49 spec tire from 2010.
