I never went to pre-CRA Winchester so I don't have anything to compare it to.
As for concession prices, I don't go to race tracks only to eat... suck it up or eat it up in this case.
I guess some people have to try and make every situation into a negative.
Maybe CRA is leaving because their late model series is growing, they are about the only one around that seems relevant. Maybe Charlie wants to run more events.
I am grateful of all parties involved and the work they have done to preserve Winchester.
I'm not trying to make any situation negative just every dealing I have had with Mr. Scott has been negative. Rather it was a fan trying to get into the infield after the little 500 when he was working with the now dieing anderson speedway or as a racer dealing with his judement calls and rules on the fly. Just glad to see him out and hopefully get some of those double headers back.

Jake,
With postive comments like these, I can see why you might have some issues with not only him but others. Charlie Shaw is looking for someone to promote the Winchester Speedway so maybe you should contact him and apply and see just how easy of a job it really is.
Mike
Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante
I fear for the worst. Usac shows do not make money these days. Who wants to show up and watch 15 sprint cars and 15 midgets . If Usac can turn things around then the double headers will be fun again. Time will tell how things will really work. The one man nobodys mentions is Greg Wood. In my opinion he was the master mind behind the entire oporation. Looks like less trips to the big oval for me next year. Things did not go smooth when CRA first took over, but the last 2 years have been great. Good luck to the new group, you have some big shoes to fill in my mind.
I don't understand the Quote about Anderson Speedway dying, If the attendence is up for the year and improvements are made all the time, I don't see that as a dying racetrack.
Not to get off topic, but I am dying to understand what improvements have been made at Anderson Speedway. As far as attendence, I don't think anyone has seen an increase over the past few years, especially a track that has dropped classes. JMO.

they replaced that board in turn three that the guy fell thru during the wednesday wing race in may! :2:
Sorry that I offended you somewhere along the way Jake. We've all made mistakes...but CROOKED is a pretty harsh word. Anderson was many years ago and we've all gotten wiser since then.
Just to clarify a few things on here...our hearts and souls were in this process of trying to turn Winchester around.
We busted our butts everyway possible to make money on the open wheel shows...because that is the only way CRA got paid to run the track. We desperately wanted the open wheel shows to succeed. The past 3 years we've talked with USAC about trying to have a midget show but they were reluctant because they were concerned about the car count. If you recall the midgets were on the schedule for Old Timers weekend in 2009 and USAC pulled the plug at the last second due to car count (that's when the winged cars had to replace them).
And 767 makes a great point about Greg Wood, he was the face, the arms and legs for CRA at the track and he was a big, big part of CRA's success at managing the track. I feel most sorry for him and the effort he has invested in the track.
Hey, no one has to like me personally, but I would hope people would respect the fact that we were able to bring a racetrack back from the dead. And had at least one USAC race scheduled each year (at least one year we had 3 scheduled). We finished our time at the track with the two most financially successful events Charlie has ever had (Labor Day and the Winchester 400 - over 200 race cars and a packed house 400 weekend). The success of those races is key to helping keep the track open...and running both stock cars and open wheel cars.
...in the end, I apologize to anyone I offended, but hold my head high over the successes we've had there.
I hope we can all just keep it positive going forward.
RJ and Glen did a great job at Winchester. Big crowds and the banks have always lended itself to good racing. I think some people just view you guys as stock car people only, who don't like open wheel stuff.
I know it's tough to make money on a USAC show at Winchester when you know the car count is usually going to be under 20. I knew of RJ and Glen's deal when they first got the track. It was a flat commission. They furnished the promotion and advertising and Charlie furnished the track.
I do not know what the reason is they are going in different directions, but I wish all the parties good luck and god's speed.
Winchester has been dead more that once. I hope it will last as long as there are race cars to race on it.
