Watching Johnny Parsons, Jr win was a good day.

The day was Monday, September 7, 1992.

That was my second trip to DuQuoin after witnessing the close finish b/t Stevie Reeves and Steve Butler the year before.

I remember after JP took the lead, he took off and was never headed. Neibel had that V-6 hauling ass. I believe it was and still is the fastest 100 miler at DuQuoin in a little less than an hour.

Those are good memories... 48 cars, wow

We need some new owners in the series, many of those guys aren't around now

almost 20 yrs ago and with all the technology that has came, the increase in motor costs and overall expense and look at the qualifying times compared to today, pretty amazing that the speeds havent changed yet if u brought equipment from 1992 out, youd get laughed outta the pits

That '92 hundred miler at Du Quoin won by JP indeed is the fastest 100 miles at either Springfield or Du Quoin. JP and his boys must have really had that car hooked up because that's just a tick faster than Ol' Jacks 1987 100 mile record at Springfield. The one lap record at Du Quoin is faster than Springfield as well. I was in the stands at Springfield for Ol' Jacks 100 mile record and he was really cookin' the whole 100 miles. I always thought Springfield is generally considered a little faster than Du Quoin but maybe not.

For years the inside front stretch wall read "The World's Fastest Mile" at Springfield, but there have been those who have been to Syracuse who have debated that moniker...
And I have a nice picture of Drewby and "Gettin Dirty" from that race. Thanks for the memories, Rich!!
