On Friday, August, 13th 2010 at Knoxville, IA during the Nationals, there was a presentation on the new LS Sprint Car engine developed by Ron Shaver with the help of Danny & Donny Schatz that people have been talking about for the past several weeks. Go to www.openwheel.org to see the details, video and photos of the engine/presentation.

100 HP less and 50 lbs more

If you look in your mirror and see a line of cars behind you, be kind and pull over.

THIS REALLY NEEDS TO HAPPEN....I BET EMMITT HAHN IS ALL OVER THIS!!!!!!!!!

The way to encourage this is add EXTRA monies to the purse for the ones that are running this motor....If it's a 3,000.00 to win deal...make 5,000.00 with this engine

My guess is that Emmett is scared to death of this engine. After all, it puts out more ponies and torque than a top of the line 360 for a whole lot less money.

At the presentation, every major engine builder was there. It took a little Q&A's (which I unfortunately didn't record because I forgot an extra camera battery), for the builders to warm up to this engine. Several of the vendors for parts were there too (All Pro, MSD, Kinsler, Hillborn and such) and for the most part, they were all VERY against this engine. Time will tell if this thing will "get legs". But like one person there said, "this engine is like a $100 bill laying on the sidewalk, someone will pick it up".

Personally, I think it is the savior for "big motor" sprint car racing. But only time will tell........

It's actually 750 TRUE horsepower. Ron Shaver mentioned later on that he could build them and send them out the door for $20k.

The thought behind this is very similar to that of Knoxville Raceway used when deciding to allow old 410 power plants to be be retooled to 440s. They would not produce the horsepower of a professionally built 410, but would allow someone a platform to get into the division. Legal for the Knoxville 410 weekly division, none were built for this year.

This thing could be great for the non wing Fri-Sat night racers that run smaller slick tracks
