Syracuse and Sacramento would be great additions. I really like the mile dirt tracks and Sacramento always pulled good crowds.

I have been saying that for a long time. It would be great to run DuQuoin twice a year and put the Hoosier Hundred on in the fall when it used to be.

There's too much racing in Indiana. WoO charged $50 reserved, $60 at the gate in Quebec last night and the place was packed for 20 cars! A good majority of people on here complain about "how much pavement sucks", so I really don't see the "let's keep it to ourselves" mentality helping USAC at all. I don't think Hoosiers like pavement racing! Tell me your opinions? Non wing is all there seems to be in Indiana, New York has Mods, Late Models and Sprints so it is harder to attract fans. As for the Thurs. Aug. 12 $20 show at Berlin I would say drawing a crowd in Michigan's suppressed economy is going to be tough. Wed. Aug. 11 is the 18th annual $10,000 to win, $20 grandstands packed at 3pm Outlaw Super Late Model Kalamazoo Klash. Which won't get cancelled 8-9 days before it's supposed to run. Scheduling against other shows, be it late model, mods or wings seems to be an issue. USAC Sprints, Midgets or Silver Crown isn't a well known series outside of Indiana. Every out of Indiana Nascar fan who thinks spending $20-40 for a ticket knows who Steve Kinser is, sad to say not many know who Dave Darland is. Don't take it personal, I'm just saying this doesn't help there credibility and cancelling races at the last minute doesn't either. I've still got 5 days of racing lined up, and I'm already finding a way to see a Super show at Oswego next season. Per oswegospeedway.com: USAC expeceted to announce cancellation of "Steel Palace Classic" Which is sad, as a lot of people on their forums say things like "would have been nice to see the place packed again"

I think USAC's attempt to get in bed with NASCAR is what really screwed them. The only way these cars will survive is if somebody gives them a home or enough dates on the calendar. They really haven't been relevant in nearly 40 years. I don't think there are many fans of these cars in their mid-20's like me to support them for years to come.

apexonephoto, growing up in Oswego I am a pavement fan first and foremost that has been converted to a dirt fan as well. Over the years I have attended USAC races at both venues pavement and dirt, however my preference is pavement. I just hate to see how much the USAC pavement series is dwindling in all three divisions and it seems like no one cares.
You brought up a good point even though WoO has higher ticket prices they pack the place, they also advertise and promote there races. That is something in my personal opinion I don't think USAC does enough of which leads to cancellations. Patti |

Is it WoO who sets ticket prices and advertises or is it the promoter? USAC is a sanctioning body, but if they want to survive they might want to think about micromanaging for a while. Either that or specify certain conditions in the contract that make the promoter responsible for actually promoting the race.

1. Get as many races as possible.... Syracuse, 2nd Duquoin, 2nd Indy, keep the Sumar going, keep the 4 crown going, give knoxville another shot, PIR, Richmond, IRP more races, just make it worth the owners while to build the cars... 2. Hold these promoters responsible, but still help them, it's their track but its your series, make them promote but help them do it... 3. Stop worrying about the nascar guys trust me, they're gonna show up, try keepin Ryan Newman, Jason Leffler, Kasey Kahne outta these cars, it aint gonna happen they WILL run them even without show up money or any of that, just tell em when your runnin and if they can show they will show... I love the SC cars they are my favorite machines in the world and i would love to see them run more... Another thought please bring the series down south for us folks who cant always make it back up north due to this pesky thing they call the military
