How many scorers does USAC use during a race?

Is the number of scorers the same every race?

Are tranponders used all the time for every race?
If not, why?

Why have a 27 car B-main? Why not have two B-mains or a C and B main?

How do you have a tie? (Kokomo race)

Why group qualify at smaller tracks and single car qualify at the biggest track?

If transponders don't work replace them or don't use them at all...

Why change the rules in the middle of a race? Read USAC entry forms.

Tri-State heat race with Short and Stanbrough: were transponders used or scorers only? If scorers, how many were used?

Did USAC ever consider watching a video of Short and Stanbrough's heat race? If not, why? Why doesn't USAC have their own video?

When/why did USAC decide to check right rear tires? Why wasn't the system of collecting right rear tires watched closer?

Just a few observations/questions...

I can personally answer a couple of them. Barbara and another scorer are up there manning the scoring computers. Someone usually scores by hand as a backup.

Transponders are used at tracks that have loops. The Terre Haute race ran single car qualifying due to a broken underground loop.

Agree completely! How do you have a tie! Same thing with midget week points. Also how did bragg get a provisional at brownstown! Doesn't make sense! I was wondering a lot of those things my self spd37! Thanks chris for clearing some of the stuff up for us!

I agree with this one. If there are 20 or more cars scheduled to run the B, divide them into 2 races and take the top 3 from each to the A.

100% agreement on big B-Mains. How come little tracks like Paragon get that and USAC doesn't?

Also agree about group qualifying. Terre Haute should be adequate proof that single qualifying doesn't delay the evening (even though it wasn't supposed to happen). With thousandths of a second making a difference, somebody is going to get screwed if they run up on another car.

Ok, Chris, Thanks for helping us try to undertand this, but was that the case at Kokomo and Tri-State? Two scorers with computers and someone scoring by hand as a backup?? Just trying to figure how usac is doing this.

Also, there are a lot of other questions listed that we don't have answers for yet.

Why does usac not provide payout the night of a race? They make the owners/drivers wait to get paid. I don't understand that either!

I like 20 car b-mains it makes your time trail and heat mean something plus it's normally a great race (gas city)

One thing I didn't under stand is how Clayton got his starting spot at Terre Haute after not being on the track for the 4 wide saluteThat could have gotten ugly if other competitors ran out of fuel.(which happens @ often there)

I was thankful for the broken scoring loop at THAT! Watching every car individually hang it out, Getting each's name, sponsors and owners durring that time and seeing the complete run of everyone, GOOD BAD AND UGLY Listening to the times and getting a general idea where each stood in the lineup. I texted Devin (working on Hughes car that Im pretty sure your in the invert!!!!!!!!!!!

Instead of two B's Id rather see a C and B I know this is tough on cars and teams but it provides some awesome racing action and sometimes a driver will stand up and make people take notice even if they don't make the feature. 12th to win in the C. 20th to seventh or better in the B. Some of the most awesome runs I've seen like this. Its really what makes Kings Royals and Knox Nationals INTENSE.

I also don't understand Clayton getting his spot at THAT, I remember Coondog being docked to the tail at Manzy for being late (HE WON) but was their a rule change?

Seemed to me there was a lot of Save fuel measures being taken at THAT, Being one of the last out, Getting a safety check ect. Still a great race just a little different than most tracks and part of THAT I guess. and no, Im not saying a safety check is wrong. EVER if there is a issue.

Only thing I could think of with clayton is if he let usac know he was going to be late. Then it ok. Be in that situation before as long as there aware and they haven't took the first geen he should get his spot back.

He ran the consi and was having overheating issues. I know they had a bad hose or a hose that was too small. Im sure they were thrashing to try to make it. Maybe your correct. IDK.
