“kingpin” Don’t take this the wrong way, just expressing my thoughts…I do not doubt that you did not have any problems running Methanol from Columbus Silgas, a leading provider of LP Gas in the area of Columbus. However, when spending the money we do on our motors I would not take any chances of using recycled Methanol, a small price for peace of mind and longevity of the motor and fuel systems... By recycled methanol I mean LP Gas companies will use Methanol as "Antifreeze" in Propane. Here is a brief background of one of many uses of Methanol:

“Maintaining and expanding the market for LP gas fuel* requires continual attention to product
quality in order to prevent operational problems and maintain customer satisfaction.
One fuel quality issue that can arise is the presence of water in the fuel. Even though water has a
low solubility in propane [at 20 C (68 F), the solubility of water in propane is only about
180 mass ppm†], the water can come out of solution as the propane cools through expansion or
due to low ambient temperatures. This process may lead to the formation of a water layer in a
tank. And if propane vapor contains too much water vapor, cooling upon pressure reduction can
lead to ice formation in valves and regulators, a situation that can cause operational problems for
the fuel user.The ideal remedy for water freezing issues would be to ensure that the water content of the fuelwas so low that such problems could occur. However, for a variety of reasons, water contamination occasionally happens.It has long been known that the addition of methanol to LP gas fuel can reduce or eliminate fuelfreezing problems: the methanol acts as an antifreeze and prevents whatever water that may bepresent from freezing. Once again I'm not saying that it is not going to make a difference in power and may* even be as pure as VP or a leading manufacture in Racing* methanol. All that I am getting at is I try and watch what my motor eats, poor quality oils and fuels are like having a diet of Pizza and Beer, you'll survive but you be happy to be alive.

Columbus Silgas buys direct from Superior Solevents out of Indy. It is virgin Methonal 99.9% pure. I did research before we bought and ran it, but I do like pizza and beer! Silgas buys it for the purpose of what the last post said but also to sell to racers.

Just remember this, you ARE going to get a bad beer, or pizza sometimes, same with alcohol/menthanol, no matter who makes it, or where you get it, a lot depends on how well it is sealed, the way it's stored, and how clean the drums are it is sold in, just remember to ck it, even if you can't do it yourself, have the tech man do it, before you race. Thanks for all the replys. I too like pizza and beer. Do you know if the methanol that you have all mentioned has the upper end lubricant in it? I'm looking for just plain ole methanol, as I'm running it in my go-kart and can't have any lubricants in it.
