You are right about the seats at Anderson. A friend of mine had a seat for the Little 500 that was broken and only allowed him 1/2 a seat. I told him that they expected the race to be so exciting he only needed the edge of it anyway. ![]() The first time I went to Sun Valley Speedway (now Anderson Speedway) back in the early 70's it was a very windy night. A storm soon presented itself and I went into the men's restroom and thought that I would take cover there. Little did I know that everyone else was laughing there *** off. ![]() ![]() I still wish they wouldn't have changed the name from Sun Valley Speedway.

MudPacker, didn't the "MRA", or Roaring Roadsters, race there, when it was still Sun Valley? Seems like I recollect that somewhere in the dust that has gathered in the cobwebs? Bob

I am going to LPS this weekend to appreciate all the work that has been put into bringing LPS back, it is only 15 miles away, and I am already planning a trip to the Burg for next week.

Not quite sure how it got the name Sun Valley but I have some thoughts on this. The speedway sits down in a valley and there used to be a number of General Motors plants to the west of the speedway. As the sun used to set in the West, the sun kind of set between the buildings right down on the speedway. There is also a short street that extends from Madison Avenue east of the speedway that is named Sun Valley Drive. A better person to ask about this is Checker'd Past here on the board. He is one of only two people to have ever seen all of the Little 500's. He has forgotten more about Sun Valley/Anderson Speedway than I will ever know. ![]()
