they did refund for grandstand tickets only, *** is up with that? no pit pass refunds. a lot of angry people sit through the 4 or 5 hour farm implement show. sad when tractors do more laps than race cars! that will be my last visit, i see no hope for tomorrow.

Eldora is in the process of becoming a NASCAR track.
It has all the earmark`s of that to me.
It will be paved in 5 years, and Tony can have all his new
Non Raceing Nascar (drivers) there a couple few time`s a year.
They`ll draw the crowd that just want`s to see the (BIG NAME)
drivers, and could care less about racing.

I feel sorry for EARL and his life`s work.Thank`s for the memories,
GOOD BYE ELDORA-----------

Maybe the next time Tony is racing on a Sunday afternoon he should take a look up into the stands when they are under caution. Even though they have the fancy facility with all the bells and whistles, there are tons of empty seats. If your racing on the track is no good, you are not going to draw the real diehard race fans that will come back year after year, instead of seekers who will go once or twice to see what it's like.

"Oh the wood chips will absorb the water and release it as the track dries out"....RIGHT!!!! Ever noticed that when you cut firewood it won't burn right away but after it seasons a while it can soak in rainstorms all thru the fall and burn as soon as you put in in the stove? Wood has more density than dirt or water, that's why in America we prefer to build houses with wood instead of mud and grass. As you add water to dirt with woodchips the dirt will just keep getting sloppier and the wood will not change because the path of least resistence is the dirt.

Don't they use woodchips and sawdust on motocross tracks to make the dirt come apart, rut up and get all loamy???? ON purpose???

Don't they use sawdust on baseball fields to cover the mud up when they are too wet to play on???

Can anyone tell me of any dirt OVAL CAR race track that has tried the woodchip/sawdust method to compensate for crappy prep and been happy with the result??? I know I have heard it mentioned before but I have never heard anyone brag about the result.

The bottom line is sawdust and woodchips won't bond with sawdust and woodchips. How in the world is dirt full of sawdust going to bond with itself???
Tom Helfrich has seemed to make the wood chip idea work at Tri State Speedway. I honestly didn't think it ever would, but he has seemed to figure it out. May have something to do with the type of clay, and other ingredients that Tom has added (coke syrup??? ha ha) what ever it is the clay/dirt is very black now when a few years ago it was the traditional dark brown clay they always had. It maybe that this type of surface takes significantly more water and prep time, I see Tom out there many nights during the week making laps with the farm equipment and water trucks even if rain is forecast for the weekend of the race.
It makes me really respect a guy like Earl B, Tom, and others like Dave R. who put so much time into making a track that the drivers like and the fans want to go and spend their hard earned money on. JMO

You must include Mike Miles at Bloomington Speedway, too! You only get out of a dirt track what you put into it!!!!

I'm not 100% positive about this but i think they have done the "wood chip" thing at Angell Park in Sun Prairie and it has worked.
