Until racing fans form their own lobby group and lobby lawmakers, there will never be such a thing.

My First time to Manzy was also in 1976 Great place has been one of my favorite tracks. Guess it will always be!! I was there for the last race and will never forget it. I was there on the 13th of this month and took some pictures I will post later. I will soon be buying a place in Pheonix and its a BUMMER that Manzy is gone.::

My first stop at Manzanita was the year that Earl Wagner won the Western World driving the Hank Smith #5. He severly bent the front axle in his heat and it was hammered somewhat back into straight and he drove this thing to the win. The cowboy hat to each driver in the main was a neat Keith Hall touch and the trip through the junkyard to get to the back pit gate was a unique experience. Manzanita now joins New Bremen, Greenville, Ohio, Ft Wayne and Dayton as memories of another time.

I was there last Thursday, pretty damn sad. Even seeing it from the air when we were landing almost made me sick

This is not what you asked, but Hampton Inns has a national Save-A-Landmark competition. The site (Hamptonlandmarks.com) states that over $2 million has been spent to help refurbish landmarks since 2000. Winners are chosen by popular vote at the Hampton site. Late last year, Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas was one of the four winners from a list of 12 sites. Over 15,000 votes were cast in the competition. This goes to show what race fans can do if we put our minds to it and vote.

I thought it was really neat that a bullring was one of the winners. Race tracks are tourist attractions, and Riverside is more of a landmark than a lot of the things I have seen over the years which are advertised as landmarks.

Stainless Steel, that's sweet. Back up the truck, sounds like you got it coming to you. I would be happy with the building and you can have the bar.
