The Midwest TQ Racing League™ presented by Vincennes University is pleased to announce that the 2010 Rookie of the Year program will be sponsored by Tony Stewart Racing. The program will award the highest finishing rookie in each race a $50 bonus and at season's end the Rookie of the Year will receive the Tony Stewart Rookie of the Year trophy and $250. Second in the rookie standings will receive $150 and third $100. Should any race get rained out, the bonus money will roll over to the yearend awards.
Tony Stewart is a graduate of TQ racing where he collected 11 feature wins before moving on to USAC where he won the midget title in 1994 and won the Triple Crown in 1995. Tony was the 1997 Indy Racing League Champion and is a two time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion. He has won the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard twice and is the 2006 IROC Champion.
Tony has never forgotten his background and continues his support of grass root racing through sponsorships, race team ownership and the crown jewel of dirt track racing, Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The MTQRL is pleased to work with Tony in the development of young talent through the Rookie of the Year program.

I'm a huge Tony Stewart fan. Having said that, I hope Smoke doesn't forget about another great group of TQ racers in Indiana. If I remember right, I think Tony actually ran with the group I'm referring to.....hmmn.

I was surprised to read this announcement, but it's a good thing. It's a great program and it's really cool to see TSR getting involved with MTQRL.

I don't think we need to put any sort of "spin" on this thread. Tony hasn't forgotten the other series. He has fielded (or sponsored) cars in that series for years. So, it's obvious that he hasn't forgotten about them. At the same time, it doesn't mean that he can't support another series. This is still a new series and it gets old when people take over positive posts by them, every time...

To elaborate on my previous post, I meant nothing negative towards the MTQRL. My concern was that the UMRA would be overlooked. I see in a post today that the UMRA is incorporating the same program this year. I do believe that TQ racing could grow at a faster rate if the two series were one, but I wish all the best to both divisions this season.

I think that is it great when people have a chance to give something back to what helped them along the way, actually do it. It's not really a money thing, it's just the fact that they care, and they remember. Thanks, Tony.
