Just not my cup of tea but would recommend; Three 25 lap heats, a "B", a "Dash", and a hundred lap main but I gave up on'em years ago. My only interest with them is keeping tabs on the ex-USAC'ers. Just the five minute recap is enough. But not taking away from all those that can't get enough. have a ball.

Nascar needs to hire Chad Knauss just like they did Gary Nelson years ago. They did'nt have anyone smart enough to catch all of his cheating either. And yes the 500 mile stuff is BORING except for the first and last ten laps! I would rather watch the trucks race the the cup guys.

I'm going to disagree completely here. The longer races test the endurance of both the equipment and the driver and crew members. A single mistake anywhere along the way can lose a race that whould have otherwise been won.

Three hours has become a "standard" for the length of a major sports event where the fans leave feeling as though they "got their money's worth." THAT is a key factor in determining an event's length.

Watch an NBA or NFL game and tell me that it does not "seem" as though the outcome was settled over the last half hour!

Watch a dirt or asphalt non-wing race for three hours and tell me you did not take a nap!

I sometimes fall asleep and sometimes get a little bored. Other times a race will pretty much have my attention for three hours. The time/distance of the races are just fine with me!

NASCAR should do something like that.
David.
I believe that NASCAR did, back with the original "Winston Million". I seem to recall that Bill Elliot was the first winner. I guess a quick "google" could turn that up. I do know that they changed the formula after a bit.

honestly I do not care how long the races are, just stop having races where each car runs a second apart. Trust me i am all for saftey, but if i want to watch cars run a second apart I will go set out by the high way. Thank God the Hockey game did not have all that many commercials.

MORE HALF MILE TRACKS!!!!

I have never fallen asleep during a non-wing sprint race, and I am old and have a tendency to nod off anytime I get bored. But I sure do fall asleep during a long NASCAR race.

Just a thought...if NASCAR racing is such a bore, what with 500 miles of consuming fuel and tires, why do you bother to watch?

Change the channel, for god's sake!

500 miles at Indy is almost just as boring, and most IRL road course races are just parades with very little passing, and usually only two teams really competing for the win.....

I agree with Duke, the Indy 500 and Daytona. Not so sure about the Indy cars and Nascar, driving flat out all the way around the track. That's why I prefer non wing midgets, sprints and Silver Crowns on the dirt!
