I would like to hear opinions on adding Midgets to our June 4th program at Montpelier. Before I can make the decision I want to hear input on car counts and on purse structure. I talked to a couple of people already and I have received some great advice and opinions. So, here is my ideas based on the advice I have gotten over the last few days.
Estimated Pay-off:
1.)$1000,$700,$600,$500,$450,$400,$375,$325,$300
$275,$250,$225,(13-20)$200. With a $100 Guaranteed Tow Money.
I realize this may not be a huge pay-out but it's what I think I can come up with for the first test. If it works we may 4 to 5 more events for the Midgets.
** The Number 1 Question I have is Tire Compound? SP4 Hoosier Plus an American Racer equivalent (I will call on the American Racer Monday) seems to be the general consensus.
**The Number 2 Question I have is, should we make it so you have to run the same RR all night?
I am interested in Midgets because I believe that this form of racing is at a major cross roads much like the same place sprint car racing is IMHO. This is why we started our series. I also believe that Midget racing could benefit from a deal like this. Now is this just my opinion but I am willing to give it a try if the Midget community is. Thank you John Gurley

I will have more to say on this later, but this is a major break for midget racing in the midwest. Here we have a promoter that is willing to jump start the midgets in the Midwest, sadly lacking in the last several years. Midget owners, get your cars out of the garage for this one and show some strength that you are behind someone that is willing to get something started. We may not see another opportunity for dirt midget racing again soon. This needs to work. A strong field at this race will do wonders for your investment. Don't let this opportunity die, guys. Note that he is mandating a HARD right rear tire which hopefully will be an equalizer for engines.
The last time the midgets ran there was for the Xtreme Series and it was a terrific show. This is a good midget track for both competitors and race fans!

WOW, a MIDWEST event with an offer to control cost/level the playing field! Cool. Thought they only did that on the coasts!

I think the 600 mico sprints would be good for this show because there is no were in the area that runs them on friday nights.

This promoter has some excellent guidelines that he is following for the midgets, one of which is to stay off of the big tracks. He's listened to a lot of people and is going about this the right way. If the midget owners are smart, they will get behind this promoter and support his shows. He doesn't have any puppet strings which allows him to do what's best for the racers and not big business. Midget owners would be foolish not to support this Montpelier show. Let's do something positive to get this deal rolling again in the Midwest and that includes fan support. Finally after years of midgets being dormant we have someone that is willing to stick their neck out. Don't miss this opportunity. I can't say this strong enough, people. This is an opportunity we have been waiting for for a long time.

We are putting together an official release that we should have out (hopefully) by end of bizz today. The release will have a full break down of the purse and rules. Thank you: John Gurley

ATTENTION ALL STEEL BLOCK SPRINT CAR OWNERS
Why would you want to go anywhere else than to follow this American Sprint Car Tour. They got several races right here in Indiana and the surrounding states too. The pay-out is excellent and gives the guy that doesn’t have the funding of the USAC teams a chance to run up front and make some money. For as hard as you have to work at these local Indiana dirt tracks just to make the show and run your butt off to run 10th and get $200. It doesn’t make sense when you can run with ASCT and make $275 to $300 for 10th at many of the shows they have scheduled. Most local tracks you have to run in the top 5 to get $300 AND HAVE TO BEAT USAC CARS TO DO THAT!!!
ANYONE WITH A STEEL BLOCK, I HOPE YOU WAKE UP AND SUPPORT THIS SERIES AND GIVE YOURSELVES A CHANCE TO BE COMPETITIVE AND GET SOME RETURN FOR YOUR EFFORTS!!
BY THE WAY IF I OWNED A MIDGET I DEFINITLY WOULD SUPPORT THIS NEW AMERICAN MIDGET CAR TOUR FOR SURE!!
