What does this mean for the track, the drivers, the fans?

Sounds like just an exchange of titles

Any time you see an exchange of properties between government entities it is usually for financial reasons. I am guessing the fair board will have access to more funds by owning the property on which the fair is held. This would also free up the city from having to "budget" the expenses for maintaining the property. Something like the fair board has been paying a lease to the city, therefore the city has had to maintain the grounds. By "giving" the property to the fair board the city will no longer have to keep this on the books. A little internet investigating and I found this. http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs...3001200K18.htm

The way I read it ,it's a propsal for a land exchange..if you have questions about the racetrack or input you should be there and bring your freinds....council members are reluctant to screw you over to your face and sometimes confuse the 'best interest ' for the public..let your thoughts be known...take a 4 out of 5 member vote

I agree with Dant. IF YOU ARE A CONCERNED RACER YOU BETTER GO TO THE MEETING. The article states that the gorunds that the racetrack in on, is going to have new people in charge. Find these people and ask them what their plans are. DO NOT WAIT AND SEE!!!

If you look in your mirror and see a line of cars behind you, be kind and pull over.

Admittedly I serve on a village board. I do know that money talks no matter what. I would hate to lose a track like Farmers City. There have been talks now (to my knowledge) for 5 years that the ground the track resides on is worth huge moeny in tax value if the fair board were to sell it. That land has prime access to I-74. It's a reasonably sure thing the motion will pass. I don't have a dog in the fight other than the track hosted a few races I have attended and when there were openwheel cars there I went. Now with no openwheel races there, I don't attend races there.

I hope the track can avoid the inevitable closure.

this has been something that has been in the works for a number of years, from what i understand the track WILL continue operations into the future...
