So I'm talking to my 9 year old son this weekend about wingeless sprints. We don't really get to see the non wing versions here in Texas but it's what I grew up watching in Far West Texas back in the '70s and early '80s.

I was telling him about how these guys sometimes really back the car into the corners, meaning they are basically sliding ass backwards into the turn to negotiate it. He finally understood but had a hard time believing they race that way. I remember seeing some video of this a few months ago thinking it was a California race track. Does anyone have a link to some video of sprinters backing it in that I could show my son?

Maybe some day we can get the real thing back down this way.

Thanks!

Check out the video clips that D.O. posts on this site plus you can google a site "raceway video" showing most of the west coast nonwing races from USAC/CRA. You should be able to see lots of backing in.

If you want to see the definition of "backin it in" you need to watch some video of Dean Thompson at Ascot Park! !
