The other reason for Haubstadts low car count was that the Illionis' drivers knew what was coming and stayed home.

As we were leaving the track tonight, an official came up to our truck and told us they're thinking of moving the start time up next Sunday, which may increase the car count, especially if Kokomo or anywhere else isn't running running Sunday.

I hope it wasnt the same one that said we could go to the pit shack and get a refund. The one who always runs the drivers meeting.......that caused a major log jam and cluster for nothing. That pissed a lot of guys off. Obviously we can reuse them next week. With some of the usual suspects gone like Gulick and Cone to TNT, I dont know why the car count was a big concern.

I have had the same opinion about the low turn out for that race. Living in Illinois, it was raining at my house a long time before it hit Haubstadt. As for the Indiana drivers, there was a good chance for rain forecast for Haubstadt, but the tracks to the North and East had a clear forecast. I think some drivers decided a guarenteed lower payout at another race with no chance of being rained out trumps a potentially higher payout at a race that is dicey at best with the weather.

Yeah, I think it was that same guy, although he told us not to even bother going to the shack for a refund and to just use it next week..of course we were one of the last ones out, not wantinto be part of that log jam cluster

It may also could have been the fact that there was like an 85% chance of rain and if you dont live in deep south indiana there isnt an easy way to get there....
