Does anybody know the weather for the race saturday? I know here they are saying 70% chance of rain wednesday/thursday. Friday 20% in the am. A tropical storm is in florida. It normally dumps a bunch of rain when it comes through...My concern is the old days when the river crests in lawrenceburg they would cancel the show. I hope not!

No worries about the river anymore, we have pumps everywhere. I know right now there is a 30% chance of isolated storms on Sat. But we all know that will change, hopefully for the better. As far as the storm to the south, i believe it will be gone by the weekend. I do know the weathermen can't get yesterdays weather right!!
In other news the race this weekend will be a format like they ran at Oskaloosa(sp) last week, no qualifying. Heat races and qualifying races on a passing points system, don't ask me details about this format i don't know them yet, maybe Sandy Lowe can explain them for us.
All i know is the fans and drivers love the format.
See ya Saturday. Dave
I really like that format. It should be a good experiment for USAC and Lawrenceburg Speedway. An "Atta Boy" goes out to whoever is responsible for that.
For those curious, this format is essentially that every car runs 2 heats (or a heat and a qualifying race, as they call them) and every car earns points for their finishing position in each race, as well as points for each position gained during the races. I'm pretty sure the qualifying races are lined up as a complete inversion of the heat lineups. (So if you start on the pole of your heat race, you'll start on the tail of your qualifying race.) A-Main and B-Main lineups are determined by total points scored in your heat and qualifying races.

This is awesome news !! Is this a L-Burg decision or a USAC decision ? Whoever's it is I hope we do this more. It takes the draw out of the picture.
Heat races lined up by draw.
Finish and passing point awarded in the heats
Qualifiers lined up by points after the heats and then the top 6 in each heat inverted. Finish points and Passing points awarded.
Points totaled after the qualifiers and top 20 lined up in the feature lined up by points. Next 20 in the B by points Ect.
The best thing about this format is you have to haul ass everytime you are on the track and are rewarded for passing every car you can..

I have a forecast for ya,
Precipitation is expected throughout the week, mainly due to the hard working Daves ahead of race front that is expected to move in saturday. Saturday afternoon there will be a wave of high energy fans moving into the parking area proceeded by a grouping of upper level race car teams. Saturday evening there is a 100% chance of Methanol with a 90% chance of mud falling in the turn 3 forecast area. Visibility will be 3/8s mile except in the late staying parking areas where the visibilty may become partly to completely blinded.
