I have been going to races since the mid 70s. If you say your not got going back to a race because it was a follow the leader track you won't be going back to any track. Every track has a night that the track becomes a follow the leader track. From Kokomo, the Burg, Gas City, and all tracks. Mike Miles maintanes one of the best tracks in the country. Most weeks two grooves with nice moisture. Last night was just one of those nights that happens.

I'm a semi-regular at Bloomington and I plan on staying that way. The crowd last night was huge...next year, it will be huge. Bloomington is normally some very good racing...why must every race be three wide and super fast to be considered a success by some people? Believe it or not, different track conditions challenge drivers and teams in different ways...I, for one, don't want the same track every night. I love it when it's fast, I love it when it's slow, I love it when it's tacky, I love it when it's slick. I wish people would leave Kamp alone about the dust already...that was one of the best sprint car features I've ever seen! "Oh, but you couldn't see it through the dust"...bull! Go prepared! You know what it's gonna be like...it's a dirt track...and dirt should be expected to fly. I've been pelted to death at Kamp, Haubstadt, Terre Haute, 16th Street, Gas City, etc., how can you not expect it if you are a regular attendee to sprint races? There are so many ungrateful people around these parts it blows my mind! Over the past few years I have met some wise and true race fans...true fans...that accept it for what it is, offer criticism when necessary, and offer ideas as well. They can admit when they are wrong, they can admit when they are right, but they don't just constantly ***** about the same nonsense over and over. I'm not trying to name drop, but if you ever sit around the Shaw, Hoover, Burton, etc. bunch during a race you will not only laugh your @$$ off, but you will hear some intelligent racing conversation as well...which is more than I can say for this board sometimes. I'm not saying I don't complain, because I can really get going sometimes...but there is a time to just let things go...and God forbid we don't freak out when there could perhaps be a bad race track once in a while...it's part of the deal. Now that this rant is off my shoulders, let the complaining continue...

IMO, the midget week race was good because those things can get around any track with those small tires...the track is too narrow for sprints...bottom line...fix it.

Well stated, and I agree.

Starting to look a lot like PARAGON, I like paragon but it is just not a fast track , and Bloomington I love it but it is getting like paragon , huggy pole no passing one lane . Still bloomington is a great track!! its just slowed down 20 mph of late .

If you spend 45 mins prepping before the A you sell a lot more burgers and coke!! Last few Kokomos Ive seens its been rough for the heat and after the work you get a hell of an a main! A track that pulls in crowds like Bloomington has some money I would imagine. The tire rule................who cares is a hard tire cheaper than a soft tire that much that it makes a difference to the wallet of a usac sprint outfit......I imagine not.
Bottom line any kind of racing is better than none, but I bet there is some kind of prep they can do for the a mains without spending $200,000 and like I said you sell more concesions. Honestly I dont think people will leave if they know they are going to see the best race on a good surface so I dont think the time taken comes into it.

Most everyone wants to turn the other cheek. "Oh just one of those nites". You could see after the 2nd heat the top was gone. Then we had a NASCAR Martinsville track. Biggest crowd of the year. Had 25 minutes after quals to try and remedy it. Miles was probably busy filling out that deposit slip for 60-70k net profit for the nite. This track surface has slowly deteriorated over the last 6-7 years. The track has narrowed up in the corners. Seen far too many races won squirting half throttle around the bottom. It's got the greatest setting for any dirt track in the Midwest. Too bad the surface can't match it. Kokomo and Haubstat make every effort to give the fans the best show possible.

They have the DT3 tire rule weekly anyway, Only track of the week that was huggy pole HUMMMMMMm My guess is lack of water, sun and wind.

To be fair I went July 3rd and it was two lane all night. However my prior two visits three years ago both were slicks and thats why two years later I returned.
