I've kept tabs on you here at IOW.com and I was pleased to see that you are home and headed in the right direction. As you mentioned, without your health, everything else seems insignificant. So, hang in there and keep going forward.

While your were in the crash house, we all missed your insight and passion for our sport. Welcome home.

I'm glad your home buddy! Justin and I knew you would be surprised and that's what we wanted. You take it easy and we'll see you at the track soon! Go to the dog show and surprise Trixy and Tommy w/ your presence and enjoy the show!

Bump!!

Nice to read of some good news. I'm pretty healthy myself but am #2 caregiver for terminal cancer patient here at home. There are a few good days but most are not for her.

Hang in there, Don.

And to my great and wonderful friends, Mike Cray of St. Louis and Justin Grant of Ione, California for making the long journey to Elyria Memorial Hospital near Cleveland, OH for a surprise visit that I will never forget. I was released tonight (Wednesday), but I'm not out of the woods at this particular point. One can have everything in the world but if you don't have your health in order, everything else is meaningless. I have been blessed by God with outstanding health my entire life, but last week on Tuesday while getting ready for several midget events, I was struck down with a very serious digestive disorder that brought me down faster than lightning, and it was quickly downhill shortly thereafter. And the next day, things got even worse when I was tranferred to the cardiac unit. Monday of this week, I went through a series of tests and was told by the doctors to be prepared for an extended stay and surgery as the tests were not good. More tests were done on Tuesday and suddenly the tests were showing a remarkable and surprising improvement. Maybe this was a miracle from God so that I can make more trouble on IOW, I don't know!!! Whatever happened, I'm now at home, resting comfortably. There are some issues that still need to be addressed, but there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks again to all my wonderful racing friends for their prayers.

Don,

I have had the pleasure of talking with you on several occassions and you are one of the best this sport has involved in it. I was sad to hear you have had some medical problems but relieved and happy to hear you are doing better. Get well soon and maybe just maybe I will be able to make Ft. Wayne this year and watch your car run and talk with you if not before at a midwest race (Jacksonville/Spoon weekend?).

The man upstairs works in mysterious ways. Everything that happens is a by his direction. It took me finding out that a very dear friend of mine has cancer and that she is giving up and allowing her cancer to consume her to realize just how fragile and precious life is and that we should all just try to get along. I am going to miss her company very much as she has been just a absolute joy to have around. We in the racing community may disagree and debate with each other but in the end we all should relish the fact we have each other to do that with.

I wish you continuing success and better health in the days, months, years (decades?) to come
