Very few announcers can do trivia on the fly, like Pat can. If any.

Ok this other feature has a good field of cars. But why does the ford focus counts suck?

Clayton, Clayton, Clayton....

Gawd I hate these questions that are essentially a ball sitting on the tee waiting to be knocked out of the ballpark.

Where is that dead horse avatar when we need it?

Clayton, congratulations if you made it to the features, it kept freezing up on me and I stopped watching. Seven cars to run the feature and very few people in the stands and this race track is still running instead of closed like Manzy. Go figure! Wonder how much money they will be out this year?

Wednesday is not the most available race night for the average fan either?

1) the track is rented
2) The weather was very threatening - last year the 2 races here had nice crowds
3) Given a reasonable cross over among fans, another issue particularly given #2 above - the Blackhawks were at Detroit in the Western conference finals and it has been years since the Hawks have been relevant and they have generated a ton of interest.

The goals of this series are not quite the same as others - and the great reason to take this series to this track - particularly for the Regional Midgets - is that Ilianna is a very big and fast 1/2 mile and it is a great step up from the Anderson/Mt Lawn/Plymouth that they normally run. The two midget shows ran last year were a bit better (fewer yellows) but all in all it wasn't bad at all and as always was done at a reasonable time - there were be two more shows there -the next is June 24

Patti,

Illiana Motor Speedway is a real nice track that normally has good crowds for its racing events. I have enjoyed watching Silver Crown, Sprints, Midgets and yes even stock cars race there. I am sure that the weather would be a number one factor in a less than stellar crowd last night. As Pat pointed out, this USAC show is a different type of situation. I attend regularly at Anderson and Mount Lawn and find it to be a very entertaining evening of racing but the crowds at either of theses tracks is also sparse. The folks who stay at home are the losers. Normally a great evening of racing that is over around 9:30 PM or so.

I feel for you with the closing of Manzanita, but I am also afraid that we will see more of this in the very near future. If only we could pick the ones that we would like to see closed? I have a couple that come to mind that should be shuttered. They will probably hang in there forever though.

Pat,
Agree with your reasons however, we may lose regional racing all together if the small crowds continue. I have to wonder how much longer Don is willing to continue footing the bill, so to speak. The small car counts are not helping. I really hope this Sunday does well. In any case, thanks to Don and Tony for all they do - and to you too!

Excellent announcing Weds night!
Threatening weather and lack of any local advertising probably contributed to poor crowd. Looked like a hard core , older crowd was there. Good luck to Don and I'll try to support his shows.
