While I do disagree with Chuck regarding watching the mini-sprints at L-Burg, I will admit that his point about these cars putting on a better show on a smaller track is correct. The smaller tracks are more of a 'drivers' track for this class. We ran up at Twin Cities for the first time a couple of weeks back and my son loved it. It was a completely different style of driving.

That being said we love racing in our back yard at L-Burg. If we can ever resolve our motor problems we plan to be out there and competitive again on June 6th.
If you can make it to Salem this friday you really should. It is an absolute ball. Very tight little quarter mile & great racing.

Reading this post is amazing. I've been involved with racing for over 40 years and one thing for sure that will kill a track is the lack of varity in the schedule. People and racers get bored with the same old thing. With my involment in racing at all levels I have not seen a promotor work so hard to try and please everyone. Dave doesn't rule the Burg with an Iron Fist like some promotors. Dave is very forward thinking when it comes to the racers welfare and all in the best intrest of the fans.

True race fans enjoy all levels and types of racing. Sure some classes of cars pack the stands more than others. Don't you think Dave knows this? What I don't understand is that all the sprint car races this year have been second to none. Been going to Knoxville since 64' and I can tell you this without any doubt that the Burg puts on a Sprint show that rivals Knoxville. The shame about this is that when you look over to the grand stands, there less than half full. Why?

Not sure how to finish this up but to say that the schedule was published early in the year, if one class of cars felt they were getting slighted by not having enough races, then it should had been address at the start of the season. Waiting to the middle of the year to start bashing a track on a public forum about it's schedule is not a true race fan.

What we as race fans and racers need to realize is that we have one of the finest facilities to enjoy our sport in the midwest. We as a group need to positively support the efforts of Dave and the staff of the Burg.

Agreed. Maybe if the fans that didn't like it changed their attitude about the class. Instead of going in to the race thinking of how much you hate the cars and you would rather see something else, maybe have a positive outlook and hope to see a good race. It might change your opinion about the class. If you go into a racetrack with a negative outlook about a certain class, most likely you're going to keep it.

I just think mod drivers will be running points elsewhere now b/c they have ran more elsewhere.
I dont care how good the facility is if the product is not of the same level. Its like building a pro stadium for a high school team makes no sense. The amount of money you pay for something sets our expectations of the product no matter what it is. They always say ya get what ya pay for. Am I so wrong as to expect more?

It seemed like there were 35-40 mods every week last year I am sure Dave could give a more accurate number. I am not going to knock other classes but it seems that mods have been slighted this year for mini sprint shows. My personal preference would be sprints, mods and then a mix of minis, pure stocks and whatever they choose to run but it is Dave's show to run and I respect that. Not a knock on Dave and staff because I know they are the hardest working around and do a great job. Dave, thanks for adding the mods to the WOO shows. Hopefully more mod shows = more fans in the stands for Dave and I think that will happen because a lot of the mod guys are local.
Burgfan, Go the florence's website and any other track for that matter and count up the number of Mods show, and also count up the number of any shows, you will see we have more mods shows than anyone around. I can't help it we had a rainout or two in the spring. Have a look for yourself. Thanks, Dave

Not true Chris, we have 24 actual race nights yet this season,if you count derbies and quads stuff we have 27 left, and you have 21 more dates left. Count them up, i did
Have a great week, Dave
P.S. Not to mention, a 10,000 to win Late models race, a $5,000 to win Late Model race, a $50,000 to win late models race. 3 $10,000 to win winged shows, and 3 $10,000 to win non-winged shows.Plus a $5000 to win sprint show. plus a $5000 to win sprint week show,a big midget week show and i guess we could go on and on, bottom line is there is tons of racing left for 2009, we have only begun, and so have other tracks, we need people to support all these tracks to continue to do what we do. Thanks
