Are mini sprints replacing the mods?Mods used to pack the pits with cars.Not running weekly that wont happen anytime soon.Id much rather watch mods then mini's.

Absolutely Not!! We have more mods races for the rest of the season than any other track in the area, We have 13 mod races scheduled for the rest of 2009 and also one more at the DTWC in Oct. Florence has 10 more mods races, Twin Cities has 8 more, and Brownstown has 11 more. We at Lawrenceburg have a longer(more races) season than any other track around. We mostly run 3 classes a night which is the reason classes are broken up some. We rotate with Pure stocks and Mini-sprints. We do the best we can to get everyone's class in as often as possible. We may also add some more Mod shows this season if everything goes good.

Im glad someone brought this up. I've seen the mods twice and the mini's four times. The OVS pure stocks not at all. I missed one show I think.

I thought LBurg was the INDY or Daytona to the Minis but even those series run their track once or twice a year.

IM certainly not trying to blindside LBurg or degrade the mini sprints as a development series. I just feel they add nothing to the show or at least the desire to attend. I know im certainly not the only one who feels this way as I asked three people to go with me and that was the reason they didn't want to come.

I can apreciate a guest class, Legends, Minis, Mini Stock, Even a super stock. TQ's (I actually enjoyed the TQ's and how some of them bicycled and pulled a wheel here and there)

Like i said, I certainly do not mean to blindside anyone. A couple three races and a nationals wouldn't be a bad thing but 9-10 times a season?? If I was trying to blindside. I woudln't have come. The staff and people of LB Speedway have been nothing but great to me but I seriously was considering other options for nights that featured Minis. Id rather pay more than have them as a featured class that often.

Mini Guys, Im not trying to knock you. Really. Im sure the experience is a ball and learning but your product is much better (AND I'VE SEEN IT) ON much smaller tracks. Expecially ones you have to lift the throttle on..

Chuck, wishing both well. But would rather spend a evening at the races with Dad and family that they actually wanted to go to.

To each his own I guess. It's interesting how race fans can have very different tastes.

I love the Mini-Sprints, the speed in which they get around L-Burg and how hard they drive there.

I don't mind the mods but pure stocks are an obsolute bore....not to mention what they do to the track with their narrow tires. The only excitement I have ever witnessed involving a pure stock race was when one of them flipped off the flagman last year after driving over the cone on a restart. He was then issued a black flag and removed from the track.

The mini-sprints are a good filler class for the sprints because their races go fast. Throw in mods/late models/pure stocks etc with sprints equals a late finish at the track.

The mini-sprints have had a very good car count this season....about 27 / 28 cars per show. The past two races the winner passed for the lead on the last lap.

Keep in mind this is just my opinion and I am sure many people don't share it. I guess that is why there are so many different types of racing.

Chuck, Thats why we have more racing nights in a season than any other track. So we can satisfy everones taste, well almost everyone. We have 27 racing nights left for 2009 to choose from, sorry to hear that one class of cars is keeping your family from the races.

To me, the mods put on good racing, but everytime I've watched them only about 7 or 8 finish and tons of cautions. The pure stocks are pretty boring and I thought the tq race the other night was pretty bad as well. The mini sprints may not put on as good as a show as the sprints, but there has been plenty of passing through the races, and with the new configuration allows cars to run the top and bottom. they've been there 4 times this year, twice with a last lap pass for the win, and another with a 3 car battle for the win, each of those with 3 + lead changes. Idk I don't know what else you want out of the racing. To each its own I guess.

I really enjoy the modified races at the Burg (and Bloomington). There is a bunch of great modified drivers out there who put on great races week in and week out.

I also like the mini sprints. Their car counts have been up and they have put on some great races this year. A couple of races ago you had Rod Henning and Beau Stewart battling for the win with Stewart making a last lap pass for his first victory. Then last week you had Kevin Roberts, Jr. passing his father at the white flag also scoring his first win.

Chuck, you don't have to like every class of car that races at the Burg. If you haven't paid attention to the mini sprints for the last couple of years check them out. The Raceceivers have really helped speed up their part of the program and some of the drivers have gotten more experience and are looking better on the track. And we've seen a couple of those drivers compete in a sprint car (JR Douglas, Jason Soudrette, Boyd Wolff & John Race).

But I will admit when I'm at Lawrenceburg at a race without the modifieds it seems like something is missing. I'm glad they're on the card for the next 3 races and I look forward to seeing Kramer, Wieck, Harris, Corbin, Largent and the rest of the guys at the track.

Chuck, who honestly can't think of a time in LBurg history where two V8 classes weren't part of any shows except in the 70s where Full up midgets were the second card and Beetle blasters were the 3rd

I agree....I enjoy watching the mods also but some of the races last season took forever to complete with caution after caution.

While I do disagree with Chuck regarding watching the mini-sprints at L-Burg, I will admit that his point about these cars putting on a better show on a smaller track is correct. The smaller tracks are more of a 'drivers' track for this class. We ran up at Twin Cities for the first time a couple of weeks back and my son loved it. It was a completely different style of driving.

That being said we love racing in our back yard at L-Burg. If we can ever resolve our motor problems we plan to be out there and competitive again on June 6th.
