Good night of racing, Danny Smith was the show for both winged sprint cars, to bad the results didn't show it. That guy was putting that car in some small holes to pass lapped traffic, very impressive. Anyone that says winged car shows don't have any passing would have been proven wrong. The track built up a cushion high up and that was the fast way around, allowing some slide job action up front for the Lawrenceburg Sprints. Last lap pass by Damion Gardner made for a good feature finish to a long night. Glad I took the night off for this show.

Another enjoyable evening at the Burg. With an all sprint car format, plenty of open wheel action for any sprint car fan. Danny Smith was the class of the field in two different divisions and left the speedway with little to show for his outstanding efforts. The Demon proved you only need to lead a short period of time to take home the top prize. Ryan Pace drove an excellent race but got beat on a last lap pass. Anyone have an idea on what happened to Dave Darland's car? Something must have broken on the car as it seemed to suddenly jump out from under him. Glad to see Robert Ballou walk away from another scary ride into the fence. He can't seem to buy a break right now. A good car count with a number of other tracks in the region running sprint cars as well.

Section A had a number of MIA. The honorable Mr. Fishburger was there along with the scribe Mr. Burton, but the rest of the "normals" were no where to be found. I finally got to meet the ringmaster when Dave Rudisell stopped up for a visit. You can tell he is a promoter just listening to him talk. Also stopping by for a chat were Chuck Nungester and Chaplain Jackie, neither of whom I have met before. I think they all felt rather safe in approaching since our numbers were down and they all felt they could escape with little or no injuries. Always good to finally put a face with a name for IOW members. Thanks for stopping up to the big red A.

Mike

Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante

Well, that did it.....after last night it's wings only for me from now on. I tried the strips and they're O.K. but wings with some hot sauce are the only way to go IMO. Oh, and about the racing.....being an open minded guy (despite what Dave claims) I rather enjoyed the support groups on last night's card. Some of the better winged racing I have seen (that's sorta like some of the better broccoli I have eaten. :2.

Hated to see Ballou climb the fencing in turn 3. Much better (and cheaper) to exit the car after a win, then climb the fence like Smoke and Helio do it. That was nasty. Glad Robert seemed to be none the worse for wear. Hope he doesn't have any next day miseries. Two big ones in two events. Things gotta get better for ya Bobbalou.

Also hated to see things go sour for 'Burg regular, MIke Webber. He was running about as well as I have ever seen him in the "B" and had a lock on a transfer spot until clipping the flipping ride of Casey Riggs. Good to see Mike hop out after a couple of wicked gyrations. Happily, Casey was O.K. as well. Barry Ryan will have plenty of work to ready the #22 for more action.

As Mud Packer (Mike) posted above, we were favored with a visit from ChaplainJackie. Sweet lady, it was nice of her to risk a venture up to the "A" domain. Unfortunately, several of the usual Section "A" stalwarts (Gregg, Ed K., Hoover, Shaw, and others) were no shows. These suspects, who apparently stayed home to watch NASCAR on TV
and DannyB who was off chasing cheeseburgers, could certainly benefit from some evangelical exposure.

Great weather, great racing, and above all great friends. It doesn't get any better.

I thought the action was great last night. I just wanted to give a great big shout out to Craig and Brad Stevens. While there were a few drivers running two classes, they all had seperate cars. Brad ran the M.A.S.S. 410 wing and the Lawrenceburg non wing show with one car, slashing and working feverishly in the pits, making BOTH features! You guys did one helluva job last night!!!!!!!!!!!!
