It with deepest sorrow that I must announce the passing of my father John Potts early this morning. We're currently working on arrangements and will pass on details as we have them.

Matt Potts

Johnny was a flagman in Southern Indiana for many years back in the 60's He was also an ARCA and ASA flagman. John was an Auto Racing Historian, Author, and all around good guy. Despite illness and pain in his later years he managed to always keep a positive attitude and always willing to offer his help and advice. His book "Driven to the Past" is a very good read for anyone interested in racing back in the early days.

Rest In Peace Johnny

Sorry to hear this. I saw John Potts at many venues over the years. I first saw him in his capacity as a flagman at the Louisville Fairgrounds Speedway in 1974. RIP, John Potts

I attended many A.S.A. races back in the late 70`s and early to mid 80`s.....John`s crossover tradition at the start of the race was worth the admission price..He was a true showman and a great flagman .......R. I. P.
