Obituary for William "Bill" H. Powers

William "Bill" Henry Powers, 90, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at his home.

Bill was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 4, 1924 to the late Ronie and Smiley (Vaught) Powers. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Bill worked at International Steel for 20 years then went on to start his own company, Power's Welding, where he worked for 35 years. He enjoyed racing and owned his own sprint car and raced all over the United States. Bill loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Bill is survived by his son, Larry William "Bill" Powers (Patricia) of Beech Grove, KY; nephew (son), Rev. Bud Hales (Brenda) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Jeffery Hales, Kirk Hales, Buddy Hales, Shelley Mayer, Andrew Powers, Bradley Schuler, Craig Schuler, Nick Schuler and 8 great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Claudia (Hales) Powers; his daughter, Debra Schuler; his parents; sisters, Bertha May Goebel, Betty Lou Neimeier, Mary Louise "Bucky" Lofton; brothers, Harold and Robert Powers.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Locust Hill Cemetery, 3800 Kratzville Road, Evansville, IN 47710.

Friends may visit from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711 where there will be a service held at 5:30 pm with Rev. Bud Hales officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideon's International, P.O. Box 241, Livermore, KY 42352.

Condolences may be made online at www.browningfuneral.com.
