So, I am working on plan B for my summer midget trip. My original plan was to go watch the Gold Crown until my wife reminded me that Sept 5th was the birthday of my twins.

My plan B is to go watch Friday night at Jacksonville and then Saturday night at Macon. My question is what would I do during the day on Saturday? I am guessing that I would want to spend the nights at Springfield. Is there anything that anyone would recommend?

Thanks
Jon

Presidential Museum tour is very interesting and worth the time. Old Capitol Building is walking distance to see too.

We have a really good farmers market downtown on Saturday. Might be some strawberries, certainly will be excellent baked goods, along with the usual vegetables, etc. It is about 1/2 block from the old state capital and two blocks from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. Lincoln's home is also within walking distance. His tomb is also in Springfield. A number of interesting small shops downtown also. That is just off top of my head.

Springfield has a new Scheels Sporting Goods Store and a big Gander Mountain Store near by. The Sheels Store is big and really nice, with one of the largest gun stores in central il.
