John Turnbull Jr, wasted little time Saturday making his way through the field to take victory in the inaugural event for the Top Speed Fabrication non-wing sprint tour. Turnbull in the 12 machine started in 6th position after setting fast time and by lap 6 had worked his way to the front and set sail. The battle throughout the 25 lap feature was for second between the 6k of Jay Kayronback and 35 of Derek Bischak, Bischak eventually getting the better of Kayronback for a second place finish and Kayronback holding on for third, the 100 of Tom Patterson and 11 of Kyle Henry rounded out the top Five. Heat race wins went to the 10 of Chris Neuenschwander in the 10N, who pulled off early in the feature, and Turnbull.
In the always exciting Superior Auto Modifieds, a strong field of 19 cars was on hand. Heat race wins went to the 14 of Jacob Mann, the 37 of Steve Minich Jr and the 6 of Justin Oberlin. The 9 machine of Jason Timberman would capture the feature , after looking strong all evening and setting fast time.
Angola speedway is beautiful 3/8 mile asphault track tucked away in the hilly terrain of Northeastern Indiana. The tight paperclip oval leads to very close racing, and a wide variety of lines taken by the drivers, particularly in the sprint cars where passes were being consisantly made on both the inside and outside with no clear favorite line. The facility is very well kept , family friendly, and has a great food service if you get hungry at the track.
