This is a friendly Public Service Announcement.......
The recently improved Interstate I-70 westbound at the Indianapolis Airport for approximately 5 miles has a speed limit of 55 mph.(not 65)
Sunday morning I met a very nice Indiana State Patrolman who was kind enough to get off of his motorcycle, walk out into/across 4 traffic lanes, just to flag us down and give me a written receipt that I was travelling at 68 mph.
I'm guessing my $150 donation will undoubtedly be used towards the new-and-improved I-465 project.
To all you Hoosiers.....you're welcome!:action-smiley-049:

Sorry about the ticket Morty. I didn't travel much in the Hoosier state over the weekend as I just went to Terre Haute and Haubstadt which are just miles from the state line but I was extra careful in your home state. They were making a killing off of speeders this weekend. Coming back home on Hwy. 13 east of Marion early Mon. morn there were two patrol cars (county patrolmen I assume) just a mile or so apart driving in the left lane. I was the only car around that I saw so I'm sure they were clocking me.
Fri. while in Terre Haute I traveled a few miles down 41 to a clothing store I wanted to check out when to my surprise I saw a plain silver mustang with flashing red and blues!!! He had someone pulled over for speeding I'm sure. Damn!

I travel between Plainfield, IN and Columbus, Ohio alot. I have a hard time understanding the speed laws around Indy. You are doing 70 East of Indy and then it is 55 around Indy. THe loop and most of the highways in Columbus are 65 except for a few areas. Indy and Columbus are similar cities so I don't understand the 55 limit. It is one of those strange times that Columbus is ahead of Indy in something.

Morty, we live in a state where we sell our toll road to foreigners, take away funds from our schools and towns, so our troopers can live out their dream of driving a fast car. ( They can't afford it with what we pay them) Thank you mitch for insuring that we will always be known " The Mississippi of the North". Thanks for coming and contributing to our economy.

Morty, don't take this the wrong way, but if the speed limit was clearly marked, you were 13 over the limit. Is that the Police fault? If you had been going 58 in that 55, and they ticketed you, I'd assume they had targeted you because you had out-of-state plates. But this one seems pretty clear cut.
We all get ticked off by artificially low speed limits--and Lord knows they're seemingly everywhere these days--but if it's marked, well, we all just have to suck it up and drive the limit.
