CONE DOMINATES “The Bluegrass Shootout” at Bardstown
Sprint Car veteran Hud Cone started on the pole and led every lap en route to the 20 Lap Feature Win in the American Sprint Car Tour event at the ½ mile high-banked clay oval of the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown Kentucky. The entire 20 Lap distance was ran without any cautions. Cone also won his Heat Race and the Dash driving the Cone/Corry Racing #14c Sprinter. Aric Gentry captured a Heat Race Win as well. The remainder of the Top 5 in the A-Main consisted of “16 year old” Blake Nimee, “Sprint Car Veteran” Alex Shanks, “Kentucky’s Own” Aric Gentry and “The Tree City Tornado” J.T. Stapp. Stapp also snared the Earl’s Indy “Tough as Steel” Award and the Indy Race Parts Hard Charger Award for his 5th place run. J.T. Stapp and Blake Nimee are now tied for the lead in the championship point standings with Aric Gentry and Craig Budde just 2 markers behind.
This weekend the ASCT is looking forward to a great doubleheader starting off Saturday night May 29th at the 1/3 mile semi-banked clay oval of the Clay Co. Speedway in Flora Illinois. Sunday night May 30th will be a return trip to the 1/3 mile semi-banked clay oval of the Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown Illinois for the “Battle at Brownstown.”

On behalf of me and John Gurley we would like to give our sincere thanks to everyone that supported us and took advantage of a great pay-out at the Bluegrass Speedway on Saturday night. The Bluegrass Speedway is definitely a top notch facility. We were short on cars but still paid out the advertised purse to everyone! The American Sprint Car Tour is for real and here for the duration. We look forward to having everyone that has supported us so far this season and all newcomers to enjoy a great weekend of racing in Illinois at the Clay Co. Speedway on Saturday and the Fayette County Speedway on Sunday.
