For Immediate release.
1/4/2009 The ASCT Sprint Car Series gets a “NOD” from SOD. The thirty year old Michigan based winged sprint car series has offered the ASCT non-winged sprint car series their support in 2010. Although the ASCT Michigan events will not be co-sanctioned they will have the support of the Sprints On Dirt Series. The ASCT Director John Gurley had this to say about getting the “NOD” from the Sprints On Dirt’s Director Dane Naida, “I feel that with our two groups working together and not scheduling against one another can only strengthen car counts and give legitimacy to our Michigan events and will help our northern Indiana races as well. I am also thrilled at the commitments that we have received from several of the top SOD teams to run with us during our northern swing. I mean not only to have our ASCT stars at these shows we will also have guy’s like SOD’S own two time Champion Brett Mann who will be making a rare non-wing appearance with us and is nothing short of huge. Brett is not the only SOD buster to give us their commitment to pull the wings off and run with us. According to Dane there should be around 12 or more SOD cars at our events and for a lot of the SOD regulars this could be their first time they have ever ran without a wing so I really think the fans will support us as well. We should have some dates confirmed in the next few days and we will post them as soon as we get them along with the purses which by the way are going to be strong and should entice teams from both sides of the border to run with us.” The ASCT Director added this, “If any promoters in the greater Michigan area or in northern Indiana have not been contacted by an ASCT Staff member please call me as soon as possible so that we can get you penciled in. John Gurley can be reached at 812-420-1973 or visit the official ASCT website at www.americansprintcartour.com The ASCT is proudly represented by Finish-Line Motorsports Management. |

I think they are getting away from their idea that this was for a group of guys on a tight budget. I personally don't have the money to be traveling to some of these track and possible having a motel bill. I wish them all the luck in the world but I think they are getting away from the original concept.

Beside all the other factors mentioned, isn't SOD a 360 group and ASCT a 410 group, If I understand correctly? How does it help the budgets of either group of racers if they have to have two sets of engines or am I missing something here?
Also isn't SOD an ASCS affiliate club? How does Emmett feel about all this or has the ASCS thing gone aaway for 2010?

We are an "OPEN" STEEL BLOCK series. These are NOT CO-SANCTIONED events with SOD. We are just working with SOD so that we don't schedule against each other. Also we travel because we have to but we are making it worth our teams while with our purse structure. I want to thank Dane Naida for working with us to put some races on in their back yard.
