Sprint Bandits TNT Rained Out at Rock Rapids
ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa (August 16, 2009) – Sunday night's scheduled opening leg of the Fifth Annual Sprint Bandits Tour 'N Topless Midwest Swing at Rapid Speedway has been cancelled due to heavy overnight rains. With Sunday's rain out, the 2009 edition of Sprint Bandits TNT will kick off with Monday's Husker Nationals at Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway before moving on to Oklahoma for a pair of events, including a stop at Oklahoma City's State Fair Speedway on Wednesday night followed up by a Thursday card at Creek County Speedway near Tulsa. The week will conclude with Lakeside Speedway's annual $10,000-to-win tilt on Friday and Saturday in Kansas City, KS. Additional information regarding the Sprint Bandits Tour 'N Topless series is available at www.sprintbandits.com.

Bummer.
We're hoping Husets runs, so at least we can watch sprint cars. |

To bad because the dirt track at Rock Rapids, Iowa is the best kept secret of really racy little joints. The thing used to be an old half mile horse track and was shortened to a 3/8 in the early 1970's. The track configuration now uses both the front and back straightaways from the old half miler which presents two really wide and long sweeping corners. It also has a historic tweak as the wooden covered grandstand is possibly the oldest in the country with a 1889 construction date.
