Gil was a true talent.
Normally when you when the European F3000 title you went straight into the big leagues. Gil won this title and it didn't happen. (it didn't happen for Roberto Moreno either) Jim Hall was on the verge of losing Pennzoil sponsorship due to lack of results versus the money they were pumping into the program. Adrian Reynard gave Hall de Ferran's name and praise. Gil de Ferran did the rest as he was immediately on pace with the best of CART. Gil was the last competitive guy on Goodyear tires, and they were BAD. He won races on Goodyears. Had he had the Firestone there is no telling how many races he would have won. Watch the video of Gil and Kenny Brack racing if your ever in doubt! RIP Gil, a true World Class talent. |
