I am new to midget racing. I am a fan and I like to support my family with their racing ventures. I would like to get my brother a set of birdcages for his midget for his birthday coming up. What is the best type of birdcages for a midget? I have no clue what kind to get him and I would like to surprise him.

You might want to find out what size axle he has, probably a 31 spline, but it does make a difference, brand might not make a difference, but also an option, most look similar, and weight is close, most prefer a double bearing on the right rear, but not limited to that, good luck, he'll probably be happy with anything you buy him.

I see BP Fab just came out with their new single-row birdcages.

Would actually like someone to explain to me if there's a reason to run single-row other than weight savings.

Be glad to, but it isn't an easy question, over the years I've used all that were available and then made my own, the lowly bird cage is probably the most overworked thing on an open wheel car, and the least serviced on most cars, I'll not go into detail here, but if you own one, show them some respect and service them at least as often as you change oil. More than will keep them happy and healthy . And by the way, the extra bearing on the right, is to keep the ladder from tearing it up, jerking it both ways to keep the axle in place.

Hyper racing has nice 31 spline double row that have a grease fitting and a bubble level built in
