Joe Leonard, one of my heroes from nearly the beginning of my near lifelong addiction to auto racing has passed away. Joe had been in poor health for several years.

Joe could drive anything and everything, four wheels or two, pavement or dirt & oval or road course. He should have had his name on the Borg, perhaps more than once.

Godspeed Joe.

Met him once at the old Indy Memorabilia show at the fairgrounds. Cool guy and very interesting to talk to. Helluva racer. RIP

One of the greatest and most versatile drivers ever. I will never forget the heart breaking loss he endured at the 1968 Indianapolis 500 when the STP turbine failed near the end of the race.

Rest in peace Joe. And thanks for the good times we shared on and off the track. What a man on 2 or 4 wheels.

They gave Joe a small tribute/send off at the end of the IndyCar broadcast last night. Showed a pic of the orange Lotus Turbine. Nice that he was remembered there on the TV.
