Chris Nunn made a point in another post about the cup guys never forgetting where they come from and helping and or owning late model,
sprint car, etc. teams. I always wandered why Jeff Gordon never did that. His diet pepsi car owner Rollie Helming even ran USAC for a while.

But even in interviews he never talks about any of this.

Weather you are a fan or not Tony Stewart has a car in every division and every form of racing because he is a huge fan, :respect: A lot of cup guys are following this lead and having a blast. Why do you think others that can dont.

Jeff Gordon raises MILLIONS for Riley Childrens Hospital, IMHO that is MUCH more important than putting his money into racing. Just my .02. If you think that I am saying this because I am a Gordon fan look at my board name.

I've seen Jeff G. bashed on way too many boards for not owning a sprint car or midget team. My reply has always been that it is his money, and that he can choose to spend it however he chooses. None of us are in any position to judge anyone and how they spend their money. Would we like it if someone judged us publicly on how we spent our money?

Like you said, Jeff's charitable work with Riley, leukemia groups, and the like says way more about the man than owning a race team...

Would it be nice if he owned a team or two? Sure.....

Does he have to own a team? Nope......

Hey guys in NO way was I wanting to or trying to bash Jeff. Just kind of courious. I agree that a lot of guys give and no one knows about it.

Riley has a special place in our house I spent 17 years going back and forth with my little brother.

My point was just alot of guys are running where they came from and having a blast.

Agree with that. However, Smoke proves BOTH can be done IF one wants to. I’ve seen interviews with Gordon where he’s said it’s because it costs a lot of money to own a team. Agree, but Smoke and Kahne aren’t doing it out of their own pockets. You can’t tell me Gordon couldn’t raise the funds via sponsors IF he wanted to. I just don’t think he has the passion for it that Smoke and Kahne do so he doesn’t do it. Not saying its right or wrong, that’s the way I see it. I applaud his charitable work because it is more important than racing. However, don’t give us the story of it costing too much to get in. Just say that it’s just not something you want to do and that’s that…personal choice. I just hate when the money card is played because it’s a cop-out to me. Just say it’s not something I want to invest my personal time in….end of story. No problem with somebody making a decision…be honest about it though. I just don’t like a false reason being given. It is work and if it’s not something you want to do then fine.

As much as you see Smoke and Kahne around the dirt tracks, it’s because they love it as fans. It’s not just an ownership thing for them. Smoke probably knows who won local shows around the state of IN on a given week. Wouldn’t surprise me at all with him being as big a fan as we are.

Not trying to start a pissing match about Gordon….just my .02 of how I see it.

I think Jeff gave most of his money to the Brook Gordon Charitable Fund.....:confused:

I agree Gordon could do it and not even notice the missing money even after the divorce, Jeff has had more success than Tony and Kasey in NASCAR and they also donate millions to many charities in fact Kasey is racing tonight in a dirt sprint and will probably donate the car afterwards to raise money for charitys as I know that Kasey and Tony has done before.

Now don't anyone call me a Gordon Basher as he has always been my #1 guy #2 is Stewart #3 is Kahne.

I wish Jeff would do it but it is his money and he can do as he wishes as all of us do with our dollars.

I may be wrong but I do believe that Jeff did help Boston Reid back when he was real young before he was ever in a sprint car.
