As more sponsors come in, The Keizer Wheels 66 Mike Phillips Memorial continues to grow, this time, with our first returning sponsor from the inaugural event last year, Sawyer Chassis! It only makes sense for them to get involved after a, more than, spectacular showing at the race last year. Not only did a Sawyer Chassis piloted by Oklahoma’s Christopher Bell roll into victory lane, but two more completed the rest of the podium driven by Trenton Beckinger of Indiana and Sawyer Chassis’ own Scott Sawyer, also from Oklahoma. To top it off even more, Sawyer Chassis filled 4 of the top 5 spots and 6 of the top 10, taking home over half of the total purse from the A Main! Scott was overjoyed with their finishes last year and looks to make another impressionable showing at this year’s Keizer Wheels 66! For anyone that wasn’t there to enjoy the feature in 2011, Bell came from his 6th place starting spot to overtake front row outside sitter Beckinger less than mid-way through the race after an exciting exchange of slidejobs for several laps while the crowd stood on their feet. Bell finally got clear and never looked back, meanwhile, Sawyer was making his way up through the pack after a rough early half of the race to bring home the final podium spot. Sawyer will be in attendance again this year, not only to race, but to help keep the rest of the Sawyer Chassis drivers up front as well. Also look forward to see returns from Bell and Beckinger in their Sawyer cars, looking to get back up front for more amazing racing and awesome payouts! For more details, log on to http://www.SawyerChassis.com or check them out on Facebook as they keep you updated on any news in 2012! Along with the new sponsor is the excitement of the opening of pre-entry, and to start off is the announcement of the first received! After a monument year last year with achievements like a Pete Frazier Memorial sweep and picking up his 100th of, now, 106 wins while sweeping the Race 4 Life, first entry Frank Flud of Oklahoma looks to capitalize on the momentum of a 6th place finish in The Keizer Wheels 66 Mike Phillips Memorial last year by setting the bar even higher for this year’s event. Many more pre-entries are expected to pour in this week and the weeks to come. After a 114 car showing last year and the evident success overall, it’s estimated that a number of entries approaching 150 could be seen this year. Only time will tell.
