Stared attending races in the 50's as a young boy, have saw many and many greats, but Jan is one of if not the greatest. Watched him at many tracks (10-15) From Knoxville to the Speedway. not many any better, What A great Man--I'm glad I knew Him.

Coming from guys like you, I will accept the compliment. Thank you very much. It is truly an honor.
Jan influenced so many people in his short career, and whether he meant to or not, he embodied so much of "what it is about". |

Saw his last years out here in Norther California, in the #45 sprint car, with the Great GP, Johnny Anderson, Jimmy Boyd, and the fat rat, Tempe Tornado in the Baily Brothers 01. Then the big tribute at Baylands after that awful wreck.

Man you done brought tears to my eyes. I remember the 99 car the most. I used to tell Jan, hey hippy if I ever get a car It'll have to be #9 cause I'd be lucky to be half as good as you. What a life he lived huh ? thats what I wanted to be as a kid growing up. I only met the guy a few times at flemington and such but he remembered me from the first time.
