Rushville Nationals Set For Friday and Saturday
By Alex Wollf

The 50th anniversary season of the Dutch Mill Buffet UMRA TQ Midgets rolls on this Friday and Saturday with its most famous event, the Rushville Nationals. This year’s edition promises to be the biggest in event history. Just as they did on June 5, Hubler Chevrolet will be the sponsor of each night’s races and will be providing vehicles to be used in ceremonies along with giveaways for the fans. The 2010 Rushville Nationals will be honoring the memory of one of the UMRA’s biggest supporters Crocky Wright who passed away last December at the age of 90. Crocky graciously left money in his will to be added to the purse for the Rushville Nationals this year. The TQs will be joined by the always exciting 600cc micros that will be going for racing glory both nights.
Adding to the festivities will be the opportunity to win a hot air balloon ride courtesy of Stars and Heights. Race fans will want to study up on their knowledge of hot air balloons and also facts about Riley Children’s Hospital as a trivia competition will determine who gets the ride. The UMRA has set a $500 bounty on both nights of the Rushville Nationals for donations to Riley Children’s Hospital. On Friday and Saturday the drivers will be bringing their helmets out into the stands to take a collection. Two lucky young fans will also be taking home a brand new bike as one will be given away on Friday and one will be given away on Saturday.
Be sure to listen to WIFE 94.3 FM all week long as there will be chances to win tickets to the races this weekend. Fans will also be able to keep up with the contingency awards to be given out each night. $50 will go to the highest finishing rookie courtesy of the “Tony Stewart Rookie Challenge.” Five gallons of fuel will go to the driver who advances the most positions in the feature as part of the G&G Oil “Hard Charger of the Race.”
Gates open at 3PM on Friday and Saturday, practice is at 5, qualifying at 6:15, and races scheduled to begin at 7!
