(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE)

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT JULY 10th AT BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY by Chris Nunn

Bloomington, IN - July 5, 2009- Although the Safety-Kleen Sprint Cars will be idle this Friday night, there won't be any shortage of action on the famed 1/4 mile of the Bloomington Speedway. Along with the regular cast of characters in the O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modifieds and the Tire and Wheel Center Super Stocks, the addition of the UMRA TQ Midgets and the ever growing Hornet division will fill up the program. The UMRA last visited Bloomington Speedway on July 11, 2008 with Tate Martz holding off Joey Paxson and Current 2009 UMRA points leader Terry Goff. Making their first ever visit to the Bloomington Speedway will be the Hornets. Hornets are American or foreign front wheel drive cars with a maximum wheel base of 104 inches. They also have to be a 4 passenger type of car, no 2 passenger cars are allowed. Hornets are a very low budget class, which includes genres of drivers ranging from 14 year olds all the way up to 60 years old. Men and Women alike compete in this division.

In action last Friday night, Danny Holtsclaw broke through for his first ever Safety Kleen Sprint Car victory, passing Jeff Bland, Jr. with just one lap to go in the main event. Eric Smith, Brady Short, and Coleman Gulick completed the top five. Kent Robinson scored victory number four on the season in the O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modified division. Robinson held off a hard charging John DeMoss in the late stages of the race. Completing the top five were Josh Eads, Clint DeMoss, and Michael Purtlebaugh. In the Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stock main event, Jack Frye led every lap of the 25 lap main event, finishing ahead of Greg Amick, Brad Cummings, Troy Clark, and Rick Hines.

Current Bloomington Speedway points standings in the Safety Kleen Sprint Car division sees Brady Short maintaining a 15 point advantage over Jeff Bland, Jr. Ethan Barrow sits in third place 126 points behind Short. Ty Deckard and Scott Hampton currently complete the top five. In the O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modified division, 42 points separates positions one through four, with Kent Robinson sitting atop the standings. Clint DeMoss, Josh Eads, John DeMoss, and Matt Bex round out the top five. Brad Cummings takes over the points lead in a wildly competitive Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stock division. Cummings is the third different point’s leader in the series, as he took over the points lead with his third place finish last Friday night. Clayton Perry sits two points back in second, while Troy Clark is only five points back in third. Lee Hobbs and Jack Frye are tied for the fourth position only 41 points back.

Pit Gates open at 4:30 p.m., Grandstands 5:30 p.m., Hot Laps 6:30 p.m., Racing at 7:30 p.m. Kids 12 & Under FREE general admission with paid adult, General Admission $12, Pit Admission $25.
