A little open wheel action - back in the day. Wish I had been there. I enjoyed this so I thought I would share. There is quite a few videos on this site. Just below the video is a link to 26 videos.I am already finding some more gems. Check out the ALCO-6 racer and its return to the US, it gets fired up after clearing customs and the 1937 Vanderbilt cup race at the 1 minute mark is a rear engine roadster. I had not heard of this. http://www.vanderbiltcupraces.com/in...rbilt_cup_race

The rear engine car isn't a roadster, it is an auto union, a german grand prix car. Along with Mercades and Hitler's money, they and Mercades dominated back then.

Aceace: Thanks for posting the links to my website.
I am also owner of the restored #19 Alco that ran in the 1911 Indy 500 Race. Here is a link to the video "Alco-6 Being Fired Up" as referenced in your post: http://www.vanderbiltcupraces.com/in..._gets_fired_up I am hoping to bring the Alco to the centennial celebration in 2011. Enjoy, Howard Kroplick East Hills, NY www.VanderbiltCupRaces.com |
