Saw my first major race there on the road course in 1964, The Yankee 300 USAC-FIA sanctioned stock car race. Every big name USAC and NASCAR driver was there. Only time I got to see Fireball Roberts race. Three weeks later he was burned in the World 600 and died on July 2, 1964. Fearless Fred Lorenzen won the race.
Hate that I can't attend, but I have to rise early in the morning to get to the Brickyard tomorrow.

USAC tweets that they are getting ready for hot laps. Any at the track that can give car counts?
