USAC should have a midget race @ Belle-Clair in Belleville, Ill, and a sprint show @ Spoon River in Canton, Ill.

Has anybody put a speed gun or what ever they call those things and clocked the speed of a sprint car right before they sit up for turn three at Paragon.
I guess it might be called the trap speed ...a drag racing term I think..I would really like to know.

Every time I am at a USAC race I always ask about Spoonriver and bringing the National Midgets and Sprints to the track. I am always stonewalled with the response "We are thinking about it". This has been the response the last 10 years and still nothing.

What would be awesome as hell would be a co-sanctioned show with POWRi (not the Knowles weekend though) at Granite City on Friday and Spoonriver on Saturday and Lincoln or Macon on Sunday. Imagine the car count possibilities for that weekend. A mid June to mid July weekned date would be great. Bring the sprintcars all three nights with the midgets.

Who wouldn't like that?

And that is surprising that it took so long. There has been racing at Brownstown since 1952. It was a 1/2 mile through 1962 and has been a 1/4 mile since 1963. I would have thought that there would have been at least a midget show there but there has not.

Thats plenty fast! and did you have to hit the brakes and slow to 40 in the turn. I think Paragon might be a brake eater. I still know that Paragon is the fastes track in Indiana and Mr. Ford has saved the people who race there alot of money.
